RN Patrol Service in WW2
Others' event
Leo Whisstock presents his illustrated talk, to the Ipswich Group of SFHS, about the build-up of this service from the outbreak of World War II to its decommissioning in 1946, looking at the various roles undertaken by the Service including minesweeping, anti-submarine work and convoy escorts. This is a story that deserves to be much better known — involving seafarers, many local and working from East Coast bases and farther afield. Many died and sustained injuries fighting the Nazis and their allies.
The car-park entrance is in Waterworks Street, IP4 1JG. Admission £2 per person for Society members; £2.50 per person for non-members, who are also warmly welcomed. You can join the Society at the meeting if you wish. Tickets are not required - just turn up and pay at the door.
